Program Manager– Raleigh, NC
Since its inception in 2002, Enable America, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has been committed to identifying and alleviating significant barriers to employment for people with disabilities by reaching out to members of the disability, business, and military communities across the country.

We are actively recruiting a Program Manager for the Raleigh area to continue increasing the visibility of the organization, reframing the hiring of people with disabilities as a workforce issue, and, through strategic partnerships, connecting the disability community with the business community through existing or new programs.

Our focus is on changing the systemic barriers within the disability and the business communities that impede the hiring of people with disabilities. In this regard, we are unique from other nonprofits in the field that provide direct services to people with disabilities, such as job placement services. We place great emphasis on developing a sustainable process of engagement. Given our approach, we are looking for a person with the following attributes:

  • Skilled connector of people and resources
  • Collaborates well with organizations and promotes collective action
  • Strategically manages social networks and communications
  • Tactfully manages relationships and situations with community leaders
  • Excellent public speaking, writing, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Engaging, bridge-building personality
  • Ability to patiently develop an emerging program
The Program Manager reports to the Director of Business and Community Connections, and the position’s essential responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:
  • Building sustainable people + information networks within the disability and business communities to advance Enable America’s goals and objectives
  • Developing and maintaining a resource network that includes resources from the local disability, business, and military communities
  • Actively participating with disability and business community events, programs, and meetings
  • Assisting in strategic planning and evaluation efforts
  • Researching local support organizations and targeted employers and prepare a local resource guide (hard copy) and user-friendly, accessible resource database (web-based)
  • Planning and executing local events
  • Assisting in the development of a local Steering Committee
  • Assisting in organizing, facilitating, and documenting local Task Forces
  • Preparing a local newsletter to be distributed to Enable America contacts
  • Acting as a liaison to Development team on aspects of local programs and/or local funding opportunities
  • Acting as liaison to Communications team on aspects of local programs and/or local media opportunities
  • Assisting in development of new initiatives or programs
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least three years of leadership experience in developing and sustaining community networks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Travel required within North Carolina and to Enable America’s Tampa office
Candidates given top consideration will have a superb and verifiable record of :

  • Strategic decision-making initiatives
The ideal candidate has a background in community or business organizing. Prior experience working with the disability community or knowledge of disability issues is a plus, though not a requirement.

As a remote position, the Raleigh Program Manager will work independently of the Tampa office and, at times, develop and implement work plans with little or no supervision. Reliability and accountability to Enable America are key ingredients for the success of the program. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
