Frequently Asked Questions

What is Disabled Veterans Employment Mentoring Month?

Enable America’s month long effort to connect disabled military veterans with employment opportunities through two streamlined employment programs. At the Job Seekers Workshop, recruiters from well-known, successful companies will teach veterans the new way of searching for jobs; the Career Mentoring Day will place the veterans inside a successful business for hands-on career exploration and networking with mentors.
Why should I participate?

In this economy, you need a competitive edge to know where to look for jobs, how to land an interview, and how to present yourself as a strong candidate for the position – the Job Seekers Workshop and the Career Mentoring Day offer you those opportunities. If there are job openings, you are in the best possible position to show interest and gather more information during the workshop and the mentoring day.
Which businesses are participating?

There are a variety of businesses that will be opening their doors for the Career Mentoring Days. Your resume will help us match your skill sets to the mentor who best meets your desired career field. The mentors are experienced in engineering, sales, IT, construction, manufacturing and so much more. Please be specific in your registration comments. This will help us pair you with the best mentor.
Do I need to have a particular background, to participate?

No. The career mentoring day gives you an opportunity to explore the many career possibilities at a successful company. For example, an IT background or sales could apply in banking, construction, engineering, etc. Don’t limit yourself.
How much of a time commitment is involved?

Both the Job Seekers Workshop and the Career Mentoring Day begin at 8:00 AM with a light breakfast and ends after lunch, around 2:00 PM.
How do I get the most out of the day?

Provide as much information as you can on the registration form including your resume. This information will be used to match you with mentors and career coaches.
Is attending both programs mandatory?

It is strongly suggested that you attend both, but it is not mandatory.
What are next steps?

After registering, we will let you know we have received your registration and will contact you at a later time to provide you with all the logistical information.
