ENABLE AMERICA CELEBRATES ADA 18th ANNIVERSARY

“Road to Access” Expo at MOSI features EA as a sponsor

Enable America celebrated the 18th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act on Saturday, July 26th by participating as one of the sponsors of the Hillsborough County Alliance for Citizens with Disabilities - Disability Awareness Expo at MOSI from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The “Road to Access” featured guest speaker Sergeant First Class Rich Robertson, who became a paraplegic after being wounded in Iraq five years ago and currently serves on active duty with Special Operations Forces. Rich is an active member of Enable America – serving as a Mentor in EA’s VetConnect program.

VetConnect (www.enableamerica.org/vetconnect) is an Enable America program designed to enhance existing rehabilitation programs for wounded warriors and to actively engage local civic, business and community leaders in the reintegration of disabled veterans to their communities.

As part of the VetConnect program, Enable America works closely with the USSOCOM Care Coalition in executing the Care Coalition Recovery Pilot Program (CCRPP). The CCRPP is a critical component of the Care Coalition’s mission to support Special Operations Forces (SOF) wounded warriors and their families for life. The USSOCOM Care Coalition strengthens the readiness of Special Operations by advocating for SOF wounded warriors, supporting SOF component family programs and partnering with both government and non-government organizations to ensure existing support and benefits are provided to SOF wounded warriors who have led the fight on the Global War on Terrorism.

The CCRPP provides support to wounded warriors and their families at Department of Defense Medical Centers and Veterans Affairs Hospitals across the United States.

Enable America (www.enableamerica.org), located in Tampa, Florida, is a not-for-profit organization whose goal is to work with all members of the community – including individuals with disabilities, service providers, government agencies, advocacy groups, existing organizations and employers – to eliminate barriers to employment and bridge the gap between job seekers with disabilities and the employers who want to hire them.

MOSI - Museum Of Science and Industry - is located at 4801 E. Fowler Avenue in Tampa, Florida.
